Own Production
Chá Camélia is the first project in continental Portugal to cultivate the tea plant (Camellia sinensis). We are located in a small rural property near the city of Vila do Conde, where we look after 12,000 tea plants, cultivated on 1 hectare of land, following organic and biodinamic principles. In such a way, we try to create a sustainable cycle on the property, in which every crop and every product we use are sourced locally and from the surrounding environment.
Inspired by the Asian tea culture, we started by producing mainly green tea, using the delicate leaves that burst in the early Spring. Soon after, right when our roses start to bloom, we dry their petals and mix them in our tea blend Sencha Rosa. In the Autumn, we collect our beautiful tea plant flowers and dehydrate them for our Florchá production and, in the Winter, we prepare our dehydrated kiwis. In such a way, we follow the pace of nature with full respect for all of the seasons.
